About Theresa

Theresa “Terry” Goldstein is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor under the supervision of Leah Niehaus, LCSW. Theresa received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.

She works with ages five and up - seeing kids, teens, and adults in-person and online. Clients have said that Terry is warm, speaks softly, is compassionate, and is willing to get messy and creative in session.

Terry has a creative lens that can help clients more deeply reflect on what is keeping them stuck in life. She is passionate about using the arts to help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves. She also provides evidence-based practices, such as Exposure and Response Prevention to kids and teens struggling with OCD, panic disorders, phobias, and anxiety. A large part of Terry’s work is parent support and parent coaching to best help parents help meet their children’s needs.

Before joining Leah’s practice Terry provided counseling services at a non-profit clinic for children ages 2 - 18, adults, and parenting support. She has co-facilliated a Perinatal Depression and Anxiety group for mothers and newborn babies, a Mindful Parenting Group for mothers and babies, a Becoming Social Group (social kills) for ages 2-5, as well as a Mother’s Support Group. During Terry’s time in graduate school, she was a therapeutic school counselor for children with emotional and behavioral difficulties, as well as a therapist who provided expressive arts therapy to Alzheimer and dementia clients individually and in group. Prior to graduate school Terry volunteered at St. John’s Therapeutic Preschool as a classroom helper.
